Evil and the devil have always sought to break this connection, destroy Divine beauty, and present their ugliness as “beauty.” But this can never happen. The memory of the holy, righteous, blessed Matrona forces every person who is thoughtful about their faith to ask themselves a lot of questions. The example of the holy righteous blessed Matrona shows us an understanding of why and how the power of God appears in human weakness. Saint Matrona seemed to be the personification of this weakness: she was seriously ill, she did not see the light of God, she was a financially poor person - she did not have a good home, she did not have a family, she did not have prosperity, she did not have any opportunities to influence the world around her. And when a person is weak, when he is sick, when he is poor, when he is deprived of power, then he does not have that human strength, relying on which he could pave his way in life, ascend from strength to strength, gain more material wealth and more power - he is deprived of such an opportunity. And such a person faces a dilemma - either he, left alone with his weakness, closes his heart before God, becomes embittered, grumbles at God, gets angry with people, hates the world, as if enjoying this weakness of his to spite others, shocking them with his behavior, becoming an asocial person, dangerous and harmful to others, or realizing that he does not have the strength to rise up, to have what he would like to have, humbly accepts this position and opens himself completely to God, as if saying: “Lord, I have no strength, I can’t do anything, but I believe in You, I love You, help me!” Blessed Elder Matrona, often called Mother Matrona, Matronushka is a saint of the Russian Orthodox Church. During her lifetime she was revered as a soothsayer and wonderworker. An endless stream of people come to her, thirsting for spiritual healing, guidance and prayerful help. Through her prayers, the weak, the paralyzed, and those suffering from mental and physical illnesses were healed. Matrona of Moscow is one of the saints beloved and revered by Orthodox believers. From birth, she possessed the divine gift of miracles and revealed herself to the world as a Christian ascetic.

Blessed Matrona is popularly called Matronushka, and they pronounce her name with great love. The Moscow saint became famous and loved by all believers during her worldly life. History of the Matrona icon

When people remember the miracles that Matrona of Moscow performed, it is difficult for them to list everything that the name of this saint is associated with, since her whole life is already a divine miracle. Matronushka herself only said that all miracles happen by the will of God, and she only points to this with her actions.

The saint warned believers in every possible way, saying that any occult acts turn away from the Lord, inevitably bringing them closer to the most evil beginning. She asked not to deceive God, not to cheat and not to try to look for answers to eternal questions. Anyone who visited Matronushka was sure that he was communicating with a saint, with a man of exalted spirit and bright soul. The saint saw right through the person, even though she was blind. She did not fulfill godless requests, but guided sinners on the true path. Everyone who came to her with pure thoughts received what they came for. After the death of the great Matrona, sadness and sorrow lurked in the hearts of people; they lacked the holy mentor. Only the icon saved Orthodox Christians in moments of despair and approaching evil, just as the Matrona of Moscow herself had done before.

The meaning of the holy image of Matrona of Moscow

The saint herself was canonized a year after her relics were transferred to the Intercession Monastery in 1998. Only in 1999 was she given a place among the holiest of local significance. And only five years later, in 2004, Matrona of Moscow was awarded the title of pan-church saint.

Near the incorruptible remains in the Intercession Monastery there are two images, to which the flow of people does not stop. Every day the number of parishioners under these icons increases and the armfuls of flowers do not dry out.

Matrena Dimitrievna Nikonova was born on November 10 (22), 1881. in the village of Sebino, Epifansky district, Tula province, in a poor peasant family. At baptism she was named in honor of the Venerable Matrona of Constantinople. Her parents, Dimitri and Natalia, already had two sons and a daughter. Because of Poverty, the mother decided to send her fourth child to an orphanage, but had a dream. Her unborn daughter appeared to her in the form of a bird of heaven with a human face and closed eyes. Taking the prophetic dream as a sign, the God-fearing woman gave up the idea of ​​sending the child to an orphanage.

The daughter was born blind, but the mother pitied and loved her “unfortunate child.” To her parents' surprise, she was born with a cross-shaped mark on her chest. And at baptism, when the priest lowered the child into the font, those present saw a column of steam or fragrant light smoke. Matrona was not just blind, she had no eyes at all. But the Lord gave her spiritual sight. Matronushka found her last earthly refuge at the Skhodnya station near Moscow, where she settled with a distant relative. On May 2, 1952, she died and, at her request, she was buried in the Danilovsky cemetery in order to “hear the service” (one of the few functioning Moscow churches was located there).
