It is a huge mistake to think that hostility towards a nation is limited only to the Holocaust. The real picture makes one think that God’s “chosen” people are not able to get along with anyone.

The historical facts are inexorable: a small Jewish population in a foreign land proceeds calmly and does not end in conflict, but as soon as the number of communities reaches several hundred or thousands, problems with the indigenous population are inevitable. An analysis of the world map with movements reveals dozens of cases at the level of empires and states. If we consider individual regions and cities, the figures increase to several hundred.

The largest and world-famous expulsions began during the time of the pharaohs. According to the Old Testament, the cradle of the Jewish people was Ancient Egypt. Around 1200 BC. The oppressed and disadvantaged people, under the leadership of Moses, left the lands and rushed to the deserts of the Sinai Peninsula. The Romans also did not have any particular sympathy for the Jews, and by decree of Emperor Tiberius in 19, young Jews were forcibly exiled to military service, in 50, Emperor Claudius expelled the Jews from Rome, and in 414, Patriarch Cyril expelled them from Alexandria.

The hostility of the Islamic people dates back to the 7th century, when the Muslim prophet Muhammad expelled the Jews from Arabia, and continues to this day. Medieval Europe held the record for the resettlement of Jews: Spain, England, Switzerland, Germany, Lithuania, Portugal and France periodically expelled Jews under the pretext of usury with confiscation of property. During the times of religious wars and crusades, people of other faiths were able to experience the hatred of an alien religion to the fullest. Russia picked up the current trend during the reign of Ivan the Terrible, when the presence of Jews in the country was prohibited and strictly controlled. Then the persecution of the Jews repeated under Catherine I, Elizabeth Petrovna, Nicholas I, Alexander II and Alexander III. Only the coming to power of the Jews in 1917 stopped the persecution and banned manifestations of anti-Semitism.

Even the number of official expulsions confirmed by the government is impressive. Although individual cases of pogroms, the reality of which is beyond doubt, are simply impossible to count. It is interesting that there are quite successful creations of communities living on the same territory for several centuries. For example, a community in China existed for about seven centuries and enjoyed the favor of the emperor by bringing cotton to the country.

German attitude towards Jews

The history of German hatred of Jews did not begin in World War II. Sources say that the expulsion of numerous local communities from German territory occurred back in the 13th and 14th centuries. And according to the memoirs of Jewish survivors of the Holocaust, Jews were not recognized as citizens with equal rights even before Hitler appeared on the political scene. According to the philosopher Victor Klemperer, the treatment of Jews was like tiny doses of arsenic, swallowed unnoticed. The sprout of hostility, falling on fertile soil, led to animal hatred with the acquisition of power by Hitler.

The search for the reasons for the Germans’ hostility towards the Jews must begin with Adolf Hitler, since before his reign many countries were involved in the expulsion, but only his fierce hatred, which grew to catastrophic proportions, became the cause of the Holocaust. Hitler himself, recording his views in the book “My Struggle,” argued that intolerance was formed during the First World War. And the impressive number of radical anti-Semites of the 16th Bavarian Regiment, who later became its supporters, confirm this point of view.

It cannot be ignored that Hitler's childhood, spent in modest affluence, came at a time of significant inequality. The local indigenous population suffered daily from poverty, while small, crowded communities of Jews quickly occupied high positions and were not at all destitute. It was precisely because anti-Semitic ideology was palpably in the air that Hitler’s speeches quickly found a response among the Germans and fueled his thirst for the destruction of a potentially dangerous people.

The Nazis, hating Jews, supported Hitler's statements. The Nazis saw a threat from the Jewish people not only to the Germans, but to the whole world. Hitler believed that the Jews' thirst for profit and the desire to benefit exceeded moral principles. Having developed a theory about “lower” and “superior” races, Hitler implemented the idea of ​​exterminating “subhumans” in concentration camps.

The German people willingly listened to the emotional and pathetic speeches of the leader, seeing for themselves a solution to their main problems. Having placed responsibility for unemployment and poverty on the Jews, the native inhabitants of Germany looked with hope to a brighter future. Thus, Adolf Hitler can be considered one of the brightest and greatest populists of all time.

Arabs vs Jews

The beginning of the conflict between Israelis and Arabs is considered to be the end of the 19th century, when the Zionist movement arose, the goal of which was to revive the Jewish people by returning their historical homeland. The struggle of the Jews to create their own state led to the appearance of Israel on the world map and added enemies to the already impressive army. At the heart of the conflict is the war for the territory of Palestine, to which ethnic strife was later added. Religious differences led to the outbreak of hostilities.

The interests of the Arab countries intersect with the interests of the Israelis and the Arabs do not agree with the emergence of a new country; they consider Palestine to be Muslim territory. And the evidence provided that the land historically belonged to the Jews can be questioned. If we rely on information from the Bible as the main source, then it talks about the violent seizure of land by Jews from other nations. After which the invaders left and returned several times, driving away the Palestinians who had settled there.

It is almost impossible to objectively judge the conflict between Arabs and Jews, because each people is right in its own way. Among the main controversies is the division of Jerusalem, a holy place for the Jews. Numerous monuments in the form of temples and the Western Walls confirm Jewish ownership. But the Arabs also managed to gain a foothold in the territory, creating their own sacred places nearby. In addition, having lost Palestine, many Arabs became refugees and also dream of living in their homeland. Unfortunately, the area of ​​a small state does not make it possible to accommodate everyone who wants to and is negatively opposed to each other. However, in the world everything is relative: looking at Japan or China, it becomes obvious that population density is almost limitless.

Distinctive characteristics of Jews

If asked to briefly characterize the characteristics of a Jew, most of us will say that representatives of this nation are cunning, money- and power-hungry manipulators who seek to deceive their neighbors. And only a few will remember high intelligence or outstanding abilities. Can such a statement be considered a manifestation of anti-Semitism? Often, opinions are formed historically thanks to books, films and descriptions of the life activities of famous personalities of the Israeli people. Sometimes the impression is based on personal experience, but mostly propaganda is decisive.

How did it happen that such negative character traits are often accompanied by remarkable mental abilities, education and talent? The number of brilliant, intelligent and gifted Jews cannot but evoke a feeling of envy among other nations who are not able to boast of such indicators. The lack of territory and the desire to gain a foothold on foreign land requires diligence and a more thoughtful approach. The situation is reminiscent of a provincial resident moving to the capital. To “get through” without registration, connections and support from relatives, you have to make more efforts.

It is not for nothing that the “chosen” people are called the people of the Book. The love of knowledge, reading, studying the culture and traditions of those residents with whom one had to live side by side helped not only to settle in a foreign land, but also to achieve a high position. The ability to penetrate and actively participate in the development of the country of residence, combined with unprecedented passionarity, has led to the fact that in America the Jew is the best American, and in Europe the best European. At the same time, his character is woven from contrasts: daydreaming coexists with practicality, a passion for profit with devotion to the main idea, and an interest in religion with a commercial streak.

This is most clearly manifested in the choice of professions that are favorites among the Jewish people. There are no miners, loggers or drillers among them. Hard physical labor has never attracted this nation. It is known for certain that Jews have always gravitated towards monetary work: bankers, jewelers, moneylenders, artists, scientists. Among religious people, hostility towards Jews on the basis of religious beliefs raises much less of an issue. At the core of almost every religion is intolerance towards competitors. Competition for the souls of the population continues today. Therefore, the hatred of believers of almost any religion towards Jews is quite understandable. The Jews themselves preach a condescending and contemptuous attitude towards other faiths, considering themselves several steps higher than others. In this they are not very different from all other religions, where similar views are cultivated. In addition, centuries-old persecution of Christians and Muslims against Jews excludes the possibility of establishing good neighborly relations.

Compared to other religions, Judaism looks the most attractive. Jews do not call for the extermination of infidels, for the forced adoption of their faith, or for imprisonment in a ghetto. And intolerance towards others on one’s own soil is more like an honest, straightforward position. While fragile neutrality, periodically leading to mass extermination, is more reminiscent of good old hypocrisy. Christians and Muslims, standing up to their waists in blood, have no right to make claims against any religion, charging them with cruel treatment of another religion.

Personal attitude towards Jews

When trying to understand why Jews are not liked, it is worth taking into account personal experience. After all, in every city, whether at university, at work or in any other group, life, one way or another, confronts us with different nationalities. And a person with a little knowledge can easily identify a Jew in order to compare him with other nations. Having carried out these simple manipulations, it becomes clear that among the Jews, like among all other nationalities, there are good people and not so good ones. Kindness and greed, cowardice and generosity, responsiveness and indifference can be found in every person, regardless of origin and religion.

Those traits, the presence of which forces the expulsion of Jews from the country, are inherent in all people without exception. The only difference is that you cannot drive yourself out of your land. Why are negative character traits forgiven in some and not tolerated in others? One of the main reasons is the desire not just to infiltrate someone else’s land, but to seize power. Historical sources confirm that representatives of this nation were constantly close to the treasury and used their official position in every possible way for personal enrichment.

If we compare the Jewish people with the gypsies, who are also scattered all over the world and have wandered for thousands of years without having their own land, then the attitude towards the latter is more loyal and indifferent. Why don't residents who steal from train stations or deal drugs attract more hatred? There can be only one reason: the gypsies do not try to seize power and interfere in government affairs, preferring to live within their community without active participation in the lives of other peoples.

Why, with the passage of time and the development of the cult of humane treatment of various minorities and our smaller brothers, do Jews still evoke a feeling of hostility in many nations? Cyclicity is a clear sign that history constantly returns to its origins, making the situation of the Jews akin to sitting on a powder keg, when the next genocide can suddenly break out and sweep across the world as a destructive wave. An analysis of historical events suggests that a loyal attitude towards Jews is present in those countries where power is in their hands.

When faced with some Jewish scumbag, Jews often experience the same specific hostility as non-Jews, forgetting that every nation has the right to its own scoundrels, of whom there are a dime a dozen everywhere. Anti-Semitism is a diagnosis. Psychiatry should include it in its textbooks as one of the types of mental disorder, manic psychosis. However, starting from the 12th century, the situation changed dramatically, and ultimately the Jews of Western Europe experienced a real “catastrophe,” or rather, a whole series (I quote EE) of “catastrophes that broke out over them during the era of the Crusades. During the first campaign, the flourishing communities on the Rhine and Danube were completely destroyed; in the second campaign (1147), the Jews of France especially suffered... in... the third campaign (1188)... a terrible martyrology of English Jews took place... Since then The time of persecution and oppression began for the peacefully developing - until the end of the 12th century - English Jewry. The end of this difficult period was the expulsion of the Jews from England in 1290, 365 years passed before they were again allowed to settle in this country... Everywhere in the Christian West we see the same gloomy picture. Jews expelled from England (1290); France (1394), from many regions of Germany, Italy and the Balkan Peninsula in the period 1350-1450. ... fled mainly to Slavic possessions... Here the Jews found a safe refuge... and achieved a certain prosperity.” And also about the fate of the Jews in Spain: “In 1391, in Seville alone, the mob killed 30,000 Jews... Jews, wherever they lived, “concentrated” trade and financial activities in their hands, and until a certain historical moment this was, so to speak, in the order of things. But as economic “progress” progressed, an increasingly significant part of the general population of any country where there were Jews - a part that had previously lived entirely within the framework of a subsistence economy - began to become more and more intensively involved in the trade and financial sphere and thus eventually inevitably came into conflict with the Jews. Thus, if in the 15th-16th centuries Polish Jews were in undisturbed “welfare,” then in the 17th century, “when the gentry (that is, the Polish nobility) became stronger (more precisely, developed) economically, they began to pursue an anti-Jewish policy,” which led to the most grave consequences for the Jews of Poland.

In Western European countries this happened much earlier; there, “before 1500, about 380,000 (!) Jews died; it must be assumed that at that time there were 1,000,000 of them all over the globe”; Consequently, in Western Europe about 40 percent of the Jews of the whole world were then exterminated...

In general, it is hardly possible to dispute the fact that religious and other ideological “arguments” always acted as a means of “justifying” pogroms, and not as their cause. This was unequivocally shown by the prominent Jewish scholar D.S. Pasmanik in his article “Pogroms in Russia,” arguing that the pogromists did not have “explicit racial hostility... More than once the same peasants who robbed Jewish goods sheltered fleeing Jews " By the way, then, during the Russian pogroms, EE states, “only a few spoke about tribal and racial hatred: the rest believed that the pogrom movement arose on economic grounds.”

In the 1880s in Russia, what happened in the countries of Western Europe (which had embarked on the path of “progress” much earlier) on the eve of the Renaissance and directly during this era was repeated. But it happened again, it must be said frankly, in a disproportionately less cruel and large-scale form. Let us also remember that in the 19th century pogroms (earlier than in Russia) occurred in Austria and Germany. And the first truly terrible bloody pogrom broke out on the territory of the Russian Empire from April 7 to 8, 1903 in Chisinau. 43 people died here then, 39 of whom were Jews.

V.V. Rozanov, who later spent the summer in Bessarabia, outlined the views of local residents about the situation that had arisen in the Bessarabia province:

“Its strength (we are talking about the economic strength of Jewry) is always greater than the strength of the surrounding population, even if there are only a handful of Jews, and even only five or six families, for these five or six families have family, social, trade, and monetary ties with Berdichev and Warsaw , and with Hungary, with Austria; in fact, with all the light. However, from the very beginning, Rozanov presented his story as a generalization of what he heard from the Bessarabians: they perceived the activities of the Jews as a kind of sucking the juices out of their land and from themselves. And in the destruction and plunder of Jewish property they saw some kind of “restoration of justice.”

However, an impartial observer will rightfully object that the Jews did not commit any violence or at least lawlessness against the Bessarabians: they only skillfully and unitedly engaged in financial and trading activities. And no one stopped the “natives” from uniting and ousting the Jews in fair economic competition. All this is essentially undeniable; but if we return to the review of the history of the conflict between Jews and the general population, based on the materials of EE, it is not difficult to see that things, as a rule, at some point came to pogroms, be it in England, France, Germany or Austria. That is, all the “natives” turned out to be insolvent...

This, presumably, means that the economic conflict was insoluble on economic grounds. And in fact: Jews at the beginning of the 20th century made up 4 and a half percent of the population of the Russian Empire, but if we talk about people engaged in trade, then according to the 1897 census there were 618,926 of them in the cities of the empire, and 450,427 of them were Jews, that is There were 168,499 traders of all other nationalities, almost three times (exactly 2.7) less!

At the same time, it is also necessary to keep in mind that the conflict at that time was completely obvious, visual: any resident of the Bessarabian province, being involved in trade and financial relations by “progress,” inevitably came into direct contact in his everyday life with Jews who almost entirely held in their hands of the trade sphere. This is important to take into account because for the later, even more “progressive” structure of society, such a direct and constant clash is no longer characteristic: the people in whose hands financial and commercial dominion is, in essence, are “invisible”; they do not come into contact at the everyday level with the majority of the population.

Every person has at least once encountered the contemptuous snort of his interlocutor, or even just a caustic remark on television or radio: “what did you want? He's a Jew." And how many jokes there are!

We no longer pay attention to such disdainful attitude. There is even such a thing as anti-Semitism, which means national intolerance towards Jews.

But have you ever wondered why they are so disliked?

In fact, the Jewish people have always been persecuted by other nationalities.

Let's remember ancient Egypt. In 1580 BC, Jews were already slaves of the Egyptians, and in 1250 they were already expelled from these territories. By 70 AD they were punished by the Roman rulers, after which they had to flee from there. In the 7th century, the Jews were driven out of the Arabian Peninsula by the Prophet Muhammad.

And in the Middle Ages, France, England, Spain, Austria, Germany and even Kievan Rus were opposed to them. In addition, it is impossible not to recall the events of the 20th century and Hitler’s attitude towards the Jews.

The persecution and mass extermination of Jews living in Germany during World War II even received a name - the Holocaust. More than 5 million Jews died then. Historians write about many reasons for Hitler’s dislike for Jews, including: the greed of this people, their attitude towards religion, and their isolated way of life.

But many also write about the personal antipathy of the German leader. There is an opinion that Hitler’s first love, who broke his heart, was Jewish; in addition, many historians are inclined to believe that the Fuhrer fell ill with syphilis precisely because of a Jewish woman of easy virtue.

Whether this is actually true is impossible to answer with absolute certainty.

Indeed, Jews have always been in a bad position throughout history, as they repeatedly choose to communicate to other people. Therefore, a certain image of “sufferers” even stuck to them.

But during the existence of people, other nations have also suffered, and innocent people who prefer to remain silent about it. Perhaps one of the reasons for the dislike of Jews lies precisely in this image.

In addition, it is worth turning to religion

First of all, it is necessary to note the negative attitude of the Jews towards the New Testament.

It is due to the words of the Apostle Paul that after the birth of Jesus Christ, the teachings of Moses are meaningless. In addition, some Jews are sure that Jesus Christ was a sectarian and even a heretic.

But there is a negative attitude of representatives of other religions towards Jews. It is believed that references can be found in the Bible that Jews are to blame for the death of Jesus Christ. Therefore, it is logical that supporters of the Son of God treat the Jewish people poorly.

The Jews themselves believe that they, like no one else, bring only wisdom and goodness into our lives, because they are the people chosen by God. People from other religions may disagree with this, as well as atheists will be against such teachings.

This is the second reason for dislike for Jews.

Politics also plays a significant role in people’s attitudes towards a particular nation.

Israel's population is almost 75% Jewish. And, it should be noted that this state behaves quite aggressively, at least towards Iran.

Many analysts even predicted a war between the two countries. And this conflict dates back to 2005, when Israeli President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for the destruction of Iran, to which he received a response from Iran in the form of a course to create nuclear weapons.

To many countries, Israel's policy seems unnecessarily aggressive, hence the third reason for the dislike for the Jewish people.

In addition, Jews prefer an isolated lifestyle, communicating only with time-tested people. They do not abandon each other in trouble, and they are simply very friendly with each other, but it is very difficult for an outsider to enter the circle of Jewish friends.

Because of this, other nations often attribute to them such negative qualities as unsociability and secrecy. This behavior is surprising especially among the Slavic peoples, who have always been famous for their sociability and openness. This is the fourth reason for the dislike of Jews.

It is worth noting the financial aspect

There are a lot of rich and successful individuals among Jews. Naturally, this cannot be without frugality, which sometimes turns into greed.

This was noted by many people, such as Jean François Voltaire: “The Jews are... a people who... combined disgusting greed... for the peoples... on whom they enrich themselves.” Or Pope Clement the 8th. He owns the words: “The whole world suffers from the usury of the Jews... they threw many... people into a state of poverty...”.

It’s hard to say whether this is really the case or just envy, but this is precisely the fifth reason for dislike for Jews.

There are many more reasons that can be identified, such as uncleanliness, duplicity, stubbornness... But these qualities are inherent in different people in different nationalities. And among Jews there are many more exceptions than rules.

But existing stereotypes can serve as additional reasons for dislike for this people.

The Jews themselves believe that the main reason for the dislike towards them lies precisely in religion. The Torah, the holy book of this people, says that hatred of Jews does not depend on any reason. Hatred of Jews is simply a spiritual law of nature.

Yes, there are many reasons. But do all Jews really deserve to be disliked? After all, we are talking about certain individuals and certain moments.

Therefore, in the end, I would like to recall the words of the philosopher and writer Bakhtiyar Melik oglu Mamedov: “There is no bad nation and bad sex, there are bad people.”
